Parliament is in session

Knitted Owls

So why do they call it a 'parliament of owls'?

From what I can tell owls are generally solitary birds, but when seen together the group is referred to as a 'parliament' because they have long been considered to be the wisest of creatures.

In Greek mythology, the owl is the symbol for Athena, the goddess of wisdom.

In The Silver Chair, the fourth of The Chronicles of Narnia, Glimfeather is a wise, friendly owl who helps the human children on their quest by taking them to The Parliament of Owls for advice.

However, it seems that owls are no different to us in one very important aspect...

...there is always one extrovert at every family gathering!
