Bovey Tracey

A Saturday evening glass of inspiration

I've spent a fruitful afternoon in the company of my long-suffering daughter checking out the shops in Bovey Tracey for materials and inspiration.

We started at the bottom of the town at Serendipity. A shop full of delicious fabrics, haberdashery, gifts, and all kinds of other pretty and useful things. The owner also runs quilting courses and other workshops in the shop, as well as offering support and advice if you have a question or problem with a project of your own. However, don't make the mistake of going along on a Monday as the shop is open from Tuesday to Saturday only.

A few doors along from here is Porters, a craft gallery selling goods handmade in Devon. We spent a lovely time in here checking out the crafts on offer.

My very favourite shop of all in Bovey Tracey is Spin a Yarn a totally scrummy yarn shop that stocks lots of locally produced and exotic yarns as well as all the familiar ones. You have to check this out if you're a knitter and you haven't visited yet. It's wonderful. They now also offer a mail order service...fantastic!

We also spent a while looking around the Devon Guild of Craftsmen and checking out the charity shops for fabrics and other bits and bobs I need for up and coming projects and for a few ideas I have been mulling over for a while.

Am now going to indulge in a glass or two of Saturday evening inspiration (red, of course) and spend an hour or two with my sketch book to round my day off nicely.

Cheers everybody!
